Professional Practice Guidelines
A number of medical specialty societies and expert groups have issued guidelines on hereditary cancer testing. Myriad has formed its assessment criteria based on the following medical society guidelines. A healthcare specialist may use assessment criteria based on that specialist's medical society guidelines, or based on her/her own professional judgment, which may differ from Myriad's assessment guidelines.

Myriad Financial Assistance Program (MFAP)
Myriad offers testing at no charge to uninsured patients that meet specific financial and medical criteria. Due to regulatory limitations, patients who are recipients of government funded programs (ie, Medicaid, Medicare) or those that have any third-party insurance are not eligible to apply.

Some of your patients may need education and counseling regarding genetic testing for hereditary cancer. You may want to use Myriad’s Patient Education Tools , a series of patient guides to risk assessment and genetic testing. These educational pieces can guide your discussions with patients on hereditary cancer syndromes and cover key information necessary to obtain informed consent for genetic testing.
